Welcome to the Dallas Paleontological Society

The Dallas Paleo Society monthly meeting is Wednesday, July 8 at 7:30pm at Brookhaven College, Brookhaven College Geotechnology Institute building, room 126 on the Brookhaven Campus.

Our guest speaker at the next meeting of the DPS, on Wednesday, July 8th, will be Bruno Goncalves Augusta, a Ph.D. student visiting SMU this summer. He will speak on the subject of his Masters thesis, "Development and evolution of the crocodile skull: clues from a Brazilian fossil". Bruno studied 10 specimens of Mariliasuchus amarali, from the Upper Cretaceous near Sao Paulo. The specimens are a growth series, permitting a detailed developmental study and comparison with the living genus Caiman. This should be of particular interest to croc-finders of the Arlington Archosaur Site and other localities in Texas.
